Snow Conditions January 2010

Road conditions to Kielder Water & Forest Park are very icy with a covering of snow on the surface making travelling difficult.

Heavy snow has led to difficult road conditions around the Park and all foot, cycle and mountain biking trails are covered by a minimum one foot of snow at low levels. In the higher areas such as the mountain bike trails, two to three foot is found on the routes.

Tower Knowe Visitor Centre Car Park, Leaplish Waterside Park and Dukes Pantry (tea room/ café at Kielder Castle) are all closed until further notice due to the weather conditions.

Anyone wishing to travel to Kielder Water & Forest Park or the surrounding area is advised to telephone their destination to confirm amenities are open and check websites and local radio stations before attempting to travel.

As the park is on the edge of the Scottish Borders, checking weather and temperatures for the Borders is also useful information to get the full picture on conditions.
