We actively encourage anyone to get involved and join one of our trail building sessions, to try it out and see if it is for you.  Most folk who come along for one session do come back – it’s enjoyable and you take away a great sense of pride in what is achieved.

We meet every fortnight at our Clubhouse next to the new Purple Mountain Bike Shop/Hire Centre just up the hill from the Castle.  We aim to meet at 0930 for a briefing chat, to plan the day and to enjoy coffee, biscuits, etc.  Generally we work through until 2pm, have lunch back at the clubhouse (we have a toaster, microwave and basic facilities) and then go for a ride in the afternoon.  It’s a full day – exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure!  You can read up on forthcoming trail builds on our forum under the Trail Builds section.

      Trail Build Saturday 5th June

We have been asked by the FC to redo the approach to the corkscrew feature in the skills loop as it is a bit of a mess. We plan to dig a narrow trench (black grade trail), fill with large rocks then cover with fines and stone mix. The section length is approximately 15m. Also there's some scope for a Boulder feature here too - just to make things interesting.

The build is planned for SATURDAY 5th JUNE at 9:30 at the Trail Build hut beside Purple Mountain bike wash. Let us know on the forum if you think you can attend - no experience necessary.

Come along and have an input on how the trails are made.
